David Blunkett severely broke his finger after trying to protect his faithful guide dog, Lucy, from a swinging door back in 2002. A door was swinging to and it was going to hit the dog, so Mr Blunkett put his hand in the join of the doorway, where the hinges are and ended up with quite a severe break.
TV Presenter Gabby Logan
Gabby Logan was rushed to hospital after mangling her finger in a hotel door when fronting coverage of Manchester United's Champions' League match against Benfica back in 2005. Apparently she was walking through a glass door at the Copthorne Hotel, Manchester, when it appeared to snap back trapping her finger. It ripped the flesh from the top and broke the bone. She needed specialist treatment from surgeons who rebuilt the tip of her finger.
Actor Matthew Perry
Matthew Perry - famous for his role of Chandler Bing on the hit US TV series Friends - is missing the tip of his right middle finger. According to many sources, he lost the fingertip as a young boy, when he got it caught in a closing door.
Actress Daryl Hannah
Daryl Hannah starred in Splash and Blade Runner while missing part of her left index finger. Hannah explained: "I got my finger stuck in the pulley of a well at my grandmother's house when I was three." But you will have to work hard to spot the missing finger part on screen - it's almost always hidden behind gloves, coats or guns!
