Mums are great. Not only to they have a natural ability to do ten things at once, eyes in the backs of their heads and a built in radar that spots danger at ten paces. But when there isn’t a product on the market that does the job they want it to do for their little ones… they invent something that will!
Many of the best award-winning and most widely used products for babies have been invented by parents. We know what’s best for our baby, what we want products to do (and what we don’t want them to do!). So we take a peek at our favourite ingenious baby products, that came from the minds of Mums.
Rachel Jones was often frustrated with the lack of high chairs in restaurants when eating out. She would resort to tying her jumper around her baby to secure him into the chair. Convinced this was a problem other parents must face, and wanting for her and baby to enjoy their dinner in comfort, she designed a fabric harness, that would fit to chairs of any shape – the award-winning, TotSeat.
Perfecting her product was no small feat for Rachel – the first Totseat highchair was made from the lining of a wedding dress and the second from a sheet! Many prototypes later and after more than 900 testing experiences on a variety of chairs, the finished product was born and now sells in 29 countries worldwide.
